LOQUAT, GINGER & VANILLA SMOOTHIE

A smooth, gently spicy loquat smoothie with ginger and vanilla. When loquats are in season, we make the most of the neighbour’s tree!

Hey everyone, André here with another special smoothie. This one’s made with banana, loquat, ginger and a touch of vanilla — an unusual combo, but it turns into something smooth, sweet and lightly aromatic. Really good.
At home, it’s just me and Simão who like loquats. Rita skips them. So this smoothie ends up being almost a little moment for the two of us — or three, if you count the neighbour’s tree. During loquat season, I can’t help picking a few when I walk by. There are always branches heavy with fruit poking over the wall — it feels wrong to let them go to waste, right? 😇
The banana makes it creamy, the vanilla is just there to tie the flavours together, and the ginger adds a nice kick that works surprisingly well with the loquats’ unique spring flavour.
If you’ve got fruit trees nearby, go for it. And tell me: are you team loquat, or more on Rita’s side?

- 1 peeled ripe banana, room temperature or frozen
- 1 handful fresh loquats, washed and pitted
- ¼ lemon, peeled
- 1 small knob of fresh ginger
- ½ vanilla pod
- 250 ml plant-based milk
Start by gathering, preparing and measuring all of the ingredients. This will improve your dynamic in the kitchen.
- Add all of the ingredients to your blender and blend for a minute or two (depending on how powerful your blender is!) until the smoothie is nice and creamy.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy straight away.
