SPIRULINA BANANA NICECREAM

Spirulina nicecream bowl topped with passion fruit, coconut, walnuts and fresh berries.

Creamy, vibrant and energizing—this spirulina banana nicecream is a 3-ingredient breakfast bowl that’s as nourishing as it is beautiful.

Hello guys! This is André here. It's no news to anyone that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For us it's not only the most important, but usually the most creative and irresistible as well. Whether it's big bowls of fresh fruit and granola with plant-based milk, a big nutritious smoothie or simply a litre of freshly squeezed orange juice each, it's the one meal we always take most pleasure in preparing. This Spirulina Banana Whip is the perfect example of how inspiring vegan breakfasts can get.

But don't be fooled by the looks of this bowl, preparing this whip is as easy as it gets and it only requires three ingredients: bananas, plant-based milk and a superfood powder. This recipe features the powerful deep green Spirulina powder, but it could a number of different ways: açaí, raw cacao, wheatgrass, maca, lucuma, baobab, or powdered goji, just to name a few. Spice it up with cinnamon and vanilla or go for a vegan protein boost with a spoonful of hemp or brown rice protein. Or perhaps just do plain banana.

Once you've got your flavour (and colour!) of choice all you have to do is top it all up with as many goodies you have on hand. We always swirl in a few dollops of any kind of nut butter (usually, we'll go for our favourite: roasted almond butter) and then prepare a big platter of fresh fruit, nuts and seeds and some sort of crunchy topping like coconut flakes, activated buckwheat or puffed rice. We scatter the toppings all nice and neat at first, and then add some more as we munch our way through it. We usually make these bowls as late breakfast or early lunch. It is such a filling and nutritious meal you'll feel totally satisfied after devouring one of these. And like any high carb low fat meal (read more about those in this post), this is super easy on your system and you'll digest it in no time. Talk about green, clean and healthy energy!

Beautiful photos as always. I'm eating this now, delicious. Maybe if you're new to spirulina try 1/2 or 3/4 of a tbsp and then add the rest. The almond butter is a great tip, for some reason reminds me of chocolates with soft centres.
